B.O.A.T. 50th Anniversary Celebration – Dorset Event Photography
What do you get when you organise a gathering of 50 years worth of actors, techs, theatre lovers and their families?
You get a fantastic day out with a very large group of like-minded people in the beautiful Walled Garden at Upton Country Park. The committee of BOAT (Brownsea Open Air Theatre) should be very proud of the day that they planned for all the attendees.
It was a beautiful, sunny day with a crisp chill in the air. The perfect day for an outdoor event of this type and the BOAT folks took full advantage of the gorgeous weather. The audience was entertained throughout the celebration by members of the company, past and present, who performed excerpts from the work of the Bard himself, a very funny skit about the possible origins of some of Shakespeare’ s work, lots of music and dancing and CAKE!! (In fact, there were two cakes. Some things should always come in pairs.)
The celebrations of the 50th Anniversary on Brownsea continues this Summer as the company will be performing not one, but two of Shakespeare’s works, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Pericles.” I’m so looking forward to the shows and after meeting the directors, casts, techs and attending the readthrough, I can tell you that it’s already shaping up to be a fantastic season and this is still very early days.
If you are in the market for some amazing, entertaining drama in a beautiful outdoor setting, buy your tickets today for one or both of the shows on the island this summer (I believe there may be an early bird special if you buy tickets for both shows in advance.)
